This exquisite tea caddy (Chatsubo) is a genuine piece of antique Kutani ware, estimated to be over 100 years old (dating back to the late Meiji or Taisho era).

The piece showcases the traditional "Aka-e" (Iron Red) painting style, meticulously detailed with luxurious gold accents (Kinrande). The body features elegant floral motifs—likely orchids or wild grasses—painted with swift, confident brushstrokes, surrounded by traditional cloud and scroll patterns. The creamy white porcelain surface exhibits fine crackling (kannyu), a testament to its age and history.

On the underside, the handwritten red characters "Kutani" (九谷) confirm its origin. This style of calligraphy is characteristic of the period when Kutani ware was gaining worldwide acclaim. It is a remarkable collector's item that brings the grace of old Japan to any setting.
